We are pleased to provide a reference for Angelo Pirrello, who has been our Building Designer for our home renovation and extension project. This project started with an initial meeting with Angelo where we advised Angelo about our requirements. We found Angelo to be an approachable person who is open minded and enthusiastic. Angelo was very forthcoming with many good ideas on how we can improve upon the current layout of our home as well as incorporating the proposed extension to improve the value of our house. Angelo was very thorough and detailed with the drawings of the floor plans and its many subsequent revisions.

As we spent some time abroad Angelo prepared the Development Application (DA) and submitted the DA to council for approval. He undertook the role of applicant for our project and dealt with all the questions and queries from council. He managed to resolve all the issues imposed by council in a professional manner without undermining our requirements. When the DA was approved Angelo prepared the Construction Certificate (CC) Application and submitted the CC to a Private Certifier for approval. Again, Angelo liaised with the parties involved on our behalf.

However, this was not the end of Angelo's participation in our renovation project. He offered to assist us in the Builder selection process. It involved helping us put together a detailed specification for the tendering process and giving us invaluable tips and advices which we would otherwise have overlooked.

We are extremely satisfied with his dedication and all the hard work he put in throughout the entire process. Thus we will not hesitate to highly recommend him to anyone interested in renovating or extending.

Yours sincerely

We purchased 5 Figtree Road, Hunters Hill with a view to renovate, however, after a lengthy assessment it was decided to demolish and build a completely new home.

Angelo Pirrello was recommended by a surveyor friend and worked with us preparing renovation plans. Following abandonment of those plans we asked him to develop and create plans regarding our new home as we were comfortable with his understanding of the locality, site and our “concepts / desires”.

The brief was to create a home providing lots of light filled living space for adults with the capability to accommodate guests and the needs of young grandkids. Taking into account river views was also vital. Angelo led us through the myriad of requirements for Council, Gov’t Depts., bureaucracy in general and building terminology. It would be scary to embark on such a project without his professional assistance.

Interestingly whilst several items changed throughout the planning stages, our initial “floor plan” remained largely unchanged and now upon completion we are able to see how workable it is.

Angelo successfully incorporated our ideas into something that “works well” and even the builder commented on the accuracy and detail of his plans. From clear and detailed plans to electrical and hydraulic layouts the project has run smoothly.

We are now moving into our new home and cannot wait to use and enjoy the amenities as they have been designed. We appreciated the relaxed down to earth style of Angelo and his ability to turn our ideas into a very workable quality home.

Should anyone require further information we would be happy to speak with them.

Fitout at 9 Rachael Close, Silverwater for Giesecke & Devrient Australasia Pty Ltd

We are pleased to say that Mr. Angelo Pirrello of Pirrello Design Associates handled our fitout project at 9 Rachael Close, Silverwater very professionally from start to finish. During the construction of the project, he acted as our building designer, technical consultant, and coordinator for the various regulatory authorities, contractors and other engineers and consultants.

We are very pleased with the professional manner in which he prepared all our drawings and documentation, including the sketch, DA and construction drawings, and the DA and CC documents. Angelo’s dealings with us and the consultants, contractors and other authorities were excellent and resulted in a very smooth flow of the project, and a timely completion.

Furthermore, his conduct and demeanor were very pleasant, and made our arduous task easier. We would be pleased to provide you further information if required. Yours sincerely,

I’m writing to thank you on the finished product of the house we have built with your design.

When we first met you, you gave us confidence that you understood our needs. You enabled us to incorporate our ideas into the design and you gave us options as to alternative ideas. You took us from concept through to Construction Certificate and I was pleased to see you during our construction phase which showed me you cared about the outcome.

The design being a contemporary one excited us, but I believe it also excited you, as Claire and I allowed your creative flair to come out in our design. The outcome speaks for itself, in that it is a very energy efficient design, utilising the space on the block extremely well, the spaces created, the light, aspect, materials and most importantly the look.

The best reference having been through the construction phase is that there is not much I would change either from a design or building point of view.

Pirrello Design Associates and my builder made a great team, as our builder seemed to know what your expectations from the design were, and he had enough detail in the drawings so he didn’t have to use his imagination too much.

Once again
Thank you

We are the owners of a property in Concord West and have recently decided that the house was looking old and dated. Following assessment of our options we came to the conclusion that a major makeover was required.

Our first step was to engage a Building/Interior Designer and after careful consideration Pirrello Design Associates was selected. We had an initial meeting with Angelo Pirrello to discuss our ideas and what we wanted to achieve.

Being a circa 1920’s Federation Home, we wanted to maintain this style whilst creating an open plan living area which was both comfortable and workable. Angelo’s concept of our ideas as well as his professional input was quickly transformed to initial sketches and then a completed plan which was exactly what we were looking for.

Our next adventure was to proceed with all other requirements such as Council and other Regulatory Bodies. Angelo’s vast knowledge and experience in this area was invaluable. He produced the DA, engaged a Heritage Consultant, Structural Engineer, Private Certifier and completed the Construction Certificate.

As the project progresses, Angelo continues to advise and guide us in all aspects of the development and he is always available to answer our questions and offer advice. Angelo is making what we initially thought would be a very daunting experience a more relaxed and enjoyable process.

If you would like further information, we would be more than happy to assist.

Back in 2004/5 you drew up plans to extend our home and put them through Ryde Council for us.

This year, we finally got on with the job of getting it built. The semi-circular driveway will be completed soon, and we are still interior decorating, but the overall effect is splendid and everyone who sees it (neighbours and passers-by included) are full of praise for the seamless way that old and new blend together - which is exactly what we intended from our original specifications.

I don't imagine you remember each individual property you work on, but for us you added a new garage/workshop/shower, then to the house 2 bedrooms, a splendid split bathroom, extended hallway and an extra living space room with a cathedral ceiling which we refer to as the conservatory. The skylights, skydomes and skywindows installed were a fantastic idea and work well to bring in more natural light and the bi-fold windows (with built-in screens) in the conservatory live up to expectations.

We have used reclaimed doors and had the original bath and pedestal sink resurfaced to retain the character of the original home and feel it works well throughout.

We made sure the old roof tiles were removed and reused on the parts of the roof not seen from the street, so that the new tiles are uniform across the whole property. I've attached external before and after few pics for your interest.

We haven't completed everything yet, so full interior pictures of show-home standard are not available at this time! But we wanted to pass on our thanks and appreciation of the work you did for us, which has transformed our modest home in exactly the way we hoped. We are thrilled with the end results.

Kind regards,
Glenn & Lesley Slender

To whom it may concern,

I am the owner of a property in Mortlake in Sydney that has a house that has been demolished and is currently been rebuilt. The block of land is a very narrow but long block and the original house was built boundary to boundary.

I originally started to look at a packaged home to build on my block but could not find the design or the plans that I liked and that would also fit on the size of the block. I had contacted a variety of Architects prior to Angelo and found them to be dismissive and not prepared to listen to my thoughts and ideas which was the total opposite of Angelo.

After a discussion on the phone with Angelo about my block and my “dreams and aspirations” for my house I decided to meet with him and see what services and designs he would consider for my house. From the first time that I contacted Angelo he made me feel like that he had a genuine interest in the design and build of my house as well as making the process simple, easy and stress free. It was obvious from the first design brief meeting that Angelo was passionate about his work and wanted to include all my thoughts. He was articulate, professional and was happy to explain any things that I did not understand, offer advice and support and guide me in this new process.

He also co-ordinated all the Professional services that are required when building a house and under a CDC application. It was evident from early on in the process that Angelo was abreast of all the current legislation and requirements which made the approval process with the Private certifier effortless.

Angelo was happy to guide me also in the internal features and appliances that are required for the house. He was always available to answer questions and never left me feeling that it was wasting his time or a dumb question.

He worked quickly within the time frame that we set, without rushing the plans and documents. Since the commencement of the building he has remained in contact with my Builder to ensure that everything is progressing.

Angelo was open and transparent with his fees from the beginning and there were no nasty surprises. He was happy to accommodate any changes throughout the design phase of the project. He had fantastic ideas in regards to the design of my house on a very tricky block.

I would not hesitate in recommending Angelo to anyone as I am confident that they will be as happy and delighted as I am with his design, approach, skills, communication and ability to make their dreams a reality.
